Slow Dance is one of my favorite songs that I have ever written. I wrote it in a very reflective state in the Beltway and which you look back at your life and you wonder if things would have been different if you would have asked that special someone to dance or what affects change based on your confidence levels. This songs about the two dances that I didn't go to put in visioning myself there if I had gone to prom. I think about what I would have done if I had the confidence and bravery to make the small leak towards asking that girl to dance at the right moment. I know looking back that it was so simple and easy and could have been accomplished, but at the time you let all those things in your head get in the way. Still, I was able to put myself in their shoes in this song when I wrote it and thinking about the lights turning blue and gaining the confidence to have that special moment with someone in this romantic song. Watch this performance!

I wrote "Return" in 2005. That was my first song that I performed live, the first recorded in a studio, and the song that gave me the idea to continue writing and recording. 700 episodes of Danny Hauger free music podcasts later, I am still proud of this simple chord progression and solo acoustic song. Its simplistic, yet fun and catchy. Thanks for listening! and to my future self, Happy Birthday!

Danny gets a new (10-year old) guitar! Take a listen to one of my favorite original songs of all-time "Losing Sleep" in an unplugged rendition live in studio. One take, no edits, and its a good song to demonstrate the range and sound of my Martin D16-RGTE guitar. Thanks to my new friend in Napa for passing along this beautiful instrument, it will be loved in its new home. "Losing Sleep" is one of the closest songs I have to being "radio alternative rock" and it has a special place in my heart for being one of the first 10 songs that I wrote and performed in college and then all over the world in tours. Thanks for listening!!

Tonight was probably the first time I can say that I wrote lyrics while singing them to my daughter while she was falling asleep in her crib. I had just finished recording the cord progression and it was starting to get her sleepy so it was time to put her to bed. I walked her in the bedroom and put her down in her crib. I began to sing the melody but I didn't have the words quite yet.

It's a very simple song with only a couple of chord changes. And I just repeated the same words and suddenly started singing that I would be the one to be there and I would be the one to comfort her when she scared. Repeating the wordS made it clear that this was definitely and had to permanently be the lyrics to the song. It just seem like how can I go and reread it after had used in real life. I hope you enjoy this first mix in this demo version of what should be a pretty good sign when fully recorded. Thanks for following any harder music and please visit my website and support my music on iTunes and Amazon.

"Where are You Now?" by Danny Hauger, written, produced and recorded by on Friday, April 28th. Vocals recorded with a Shure MV5 USB microphone. I am getting the best music vicals ever with this microphone! The monitoring is spot on. This song combines some surf guitar, slide guitar accents, strings, bass, and reverb laden guitar to create a large sounding jam with a catchy chorus. I love the high accenting "Where are you now" harmonies which are some of the most enjoyable lines I have recorded this year. Watch my practice video on YouTube recording this song uncut! A Saturday acoustic recording session with my Taylor acoustic . Produced this open G recording. I used a Shure AV5 USB microphone with my unplugged taylor guitar. using 3 or 4 chords and only 1 recording take, i really liked the way the session turned out. Its a relaxing and reflective instrumental guitar song that I hope you will enjoy!

"Mist" is today's newly recorded instrumental guitar song from Danny Hauger recording studios. It was neat to leave the bass guitar and acoustic guitar out of this session and instead use three synth tracks on the keys to layer some pad and bass tones. I like the outcome and its yet another example of a different sounding outcome from my recording sessions. I am hearing more diversity in 2017 recording than any other year, and its been a pleasure to write and record!

Really feeling the groove, a little reminiscent of a Radiohead acoustic guitar that I hear in old songs like "High and Dry" with a little bit of "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins, all with a modern vibe and Danny Hauger twist. I like how it sounds through this first mix this evening. and I am excited to present it to you! It feels pretty great to feel pretty great about recording in 2017, if you can follow that sentence, I love the complexity and the build of bridges and verses that have been coming in the #SongaWeek challenge. I love the feeling when I have recorded something that I feel is the best I have ever done. The fact that its happened dozens of times, gives me such a creative joy, that even when listener numebrs are low, self-esteem and the feel of accomplishment is off the charts. I hope you enjoy this groovy, melodic, brand new background-laden song from my studios on this beautiful Saturday in the East Bay. Please share and thanks for listening!

“I’m the One Who’s Here” Music and Lyrics by Danny Hauger

I’m looking out for you in the only way I know.

I’m reaching out for you from the side I want to show

There’s so much more to me than the man you think you know,

I’m deep enough to travel anywhere you go.

And here I am waiting for you to acknowledge me,

It’s the hardest part of wanting you to be with me,

When all you’re hope is gone, when all your nights are long, when all your love went wrong.

And I’m the one who’s here.

You insist on working magic, I already disproved.

While I stand with reason and logic, I wait for you to return.

When all you’re hope is gone, when all your nights are long, when all your love went wrong.

And I’m the one who’s here.

"Walk Away" was not the song I was intending to write, but sometimes creativity unravels itself in unpredictable ways. I tried to control it into a slower, ballad type song, but after a few new sessions emerged, Id ecided to follow the chord progression and see where it would lead me. The result was a modern rock, even alternative sounding song resembling a bit of the band Bush, or contemporary, especially the way the harmony came in a lower octave, which was a first for me in my recordings I think. I enjoyed the bit of a rough edge that came out, and it developed nicely without a need for layering of lots of tracks. I let it remain simple, and I am happy with the result. This is free song 11 (really 15 or 16) of the 52 week challenge for 2017. Please help support my music! Thanks for listening.
