2017 October

When my package was lost, I was so set on getting a Dunlop Lap Dawg Steel slide (chromed brass), that I went out and bought one. I had no idea they were made close by in Benicia, California. That's pretty cool! What was even cooler, was bringing it to my room this morning to give it a first go, no editing, just a straight cut of recording over an acoustic bed with my trusty old guitar "Mitch". So here it is! A fresh recording, unedited for audio sake, to hear what the Dunlop Lap Dawg sounds like in the hands of a first-time amateur, I am going to LOVE playing this!

Where Im Going

"Where I'm Going" Words and Music by Danny Hauger

Extended journeys have a way of working out,

That you can’t see too far ahead

The part that’s tragic is the living part of life,

That we must learn more from the dead.

I’m waiting for the life I’m building to take shape

And I’m hoping to be good enough.

All in  all I’m rising up to meet my faith.

So hear me roar and call my bluff.

I don’t know where I’m going

Only know where I’ve been

I don’t know where I’m going

But you’re welcome to come along.

Forgive me if I am lonely,

I thought I’d have more time to be

The friend you’d waited all along for.

While I was looking to please me.

There’s a selfishness I’m serving all the time.

A short-sighted loss of light

If I had taken one more moment

I’d seperate what was wrong from what was right.

Your setting sun will be another’s rising light,

Your charted path will be their guide.

Three simple tracks. Two 12-strong, unplugged, acoustic guitars panned slightly left and right to make a reflective and relaxing instrumental with a mix of major and minor keys. Plus a live drum performance on my new Alesis Nitro kit produced this simple track. It reminded me of trying to keep your thoughts focused on one task but being distracted by the other thoughts in your head.

Enjoyed Hope Sandoval and the Warm intentions Friday night! What a beautiful venue in Berkeley - the UC Theatre. There are a load of great talent, and I love their nonprofit mission to train people for careers in music and the arts! View their upcoming calendar here!

This week I also got humiliated, not really, on Comedy Bang Bang, episode 511. Take a listen. I love that show! Stay tuned for new music this week, and an interview with recording artist Ben Kweller, one of my top 10 favorite songwriters and inspirations!
