Esperanza High School in Anaheim hosted its 2013 career day on January 30th, offering students dozens of choices for three sessions of career advice and information from various professionals from Southern California.
Listen to a highlight from career day highlightThe Salvation Army Anaheim ARC's Community Relations Manager Danny Hauger spoke to full classrooms about the good work of Salvation Army Family Stores, donation pick-ups, and the beneficiaries of the Anaheim Adult Rehabilitation Center.
Students asked questions about non-profits, experience needed, educational program suggestions, how to approach looking for colleges, and finding passions to pursue in life. Many students were able to ask questions about the radio and broadcasting experience held by Danny Hauger, and how past experience, networking, and interpersonal communications can help you in any career path.
Esperanza presented a certificate of appreciation to Danny, and many of the presenters enjoyed talking about their history and appreciation for the work of The Salvation in Orange County, which now extends over 125 years of community service.
"I really enjoyed this experience, and the interest and curiosity of the students is encouraging, seeing so many bright young men and women reminds me of being in their seats listening to advice from mentors and teachers. I tried to impart positive and encouraging messages, that there are people and organizations like The Salvation Army actively working to improve the lives of those experiencing difficulties. The next generation will have many opportunities to continue and extend these types of traditions, and it was a wonderful treat to be able to impart some points of perspective that have helped me in my own life and educational career." - Danny Hauger, Community Relations, Anaheim ARC.

The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers provide spiritual, social and emotional assistance for men and women who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves.
Each center offers residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care that program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment. Many of those who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and resume a normal life.
Danny Hauger has been a media professional for 8 years and also had the chance to talk about his work in radio, music, television, and freelance journalism.
