"Dry Creek" was originally recorded in Southern California in 2010, and this performance was the first time I performed a live version. It was a pleasure to five back into open G waters and explore a few variations on the melody and rhythm of the song. Enjoy the free download! Watch the video for "Dry Creek" on YouTube.

These two completely acoustic instrumental guitar albums "Relaxing Guitars" and "Acoustic Duets" are two hours, of relaxing background guitar music to enjoy. These songs are great background for work, yoga, meditation, resting, cleaning, driving, stress relief, or just easy listening. Makes great background music for any event! Most tracks are mellow, slow, and provide hours of easy going acoustic instrumentals. I hope you will enjoy and share to help bring more new listeners to my music!

I always have wanted duet recordings to be a part of my regular music creation. Today a very special treat! The very talented singer and songwriter Robin Irene Moss lent her beautiful voice to my song, "I Am". You can hear Irene's lovely originals at her YouTube Channel and please show her some major love! She is an incredible, and passionate songwriter and one of my favorites on the internet. I am so proud to present this new acoustic recording of "I Am". Be sure to watch our YouTube video collaboration here and have a great weekend everyone!

Danny Hauger - “I Am” Copyright 2016 AKA The Song I Want to Hear When I re-enter Orbit

As I float all around you,

Hovering space and time,

Recovering grace and rhyme,

Ebb and flow.

I heard all kinds of questions,

How did I make it there?

And how did it compare

To everything here on earth?

“I carefully planned out my words, mapped them out to say:

The world is very grey, once you get around the moon.

For those of you living in this world, you call it home.

You handle your unknowns, so simplistically.”

I am, whatever you say I am.

I am, whatever you say I am.

How can you say I am?

You haven’t seen the things that I’ve seen.

I am, whatever you say I am.

But how can you say I am,

You haven’t known what it takes to be me

The moment I returned, gravity pulled on me,

Adventure ceased to be, and was now gone.

The thrill of the chase, the run into space, it all ends now.

With all of my know-how, all I know, is I’m not sure how to go home.

I am, whatever you say I am.

How can you say I am?

You haven’t been where I have been.

I am, whatever you say I am.

How can you say I am?

You haven’t seen the things that I’ve seen.

Last night I recorded two unplugged compositions that I created in the key of G. "Losing Time" was a brand new production and a little bit inspiration, a little bit improvisation. The song has a serene side, and also a challenging component as well. It feels like a little bit of a relief and a little bit of a grievance. I hope you enjoy it. Watch the live performance on YouTube: DannyHauger. Download and share, thanks for listening!

Why I chose Seagull Guitars by Danny Hauger

The arrival of my new Seagull Artist series (paid for by me) is changing my recording ability and sound dynamics in my studio. I am happy to announce that I will be featuring this Seagull Artist Studio C. The video review is coming soon, and will be posted on my YouTube Channel

Element Guitar (website - http://bit.ly/2n8vfKM) as my premiere acoustic for recording in studio. Is searched the world (-wide web) for a company that matched my philosophy and sound balance, and there are a lot of companies that make a lot of claims. While I was researching, reading, watching videos, and considering my next move, I happened to be strumming my Seagull Coastline S6 Folk, I looked at the tapered headstock, and an idea flew right over my head and onto the logo - Seagull. 3 reasons and goals drove my decision: sound, sustainability, and North American-made)http://www.seagullguitars.com/uploads/products/041572/1-2-4.jpg

SOUND: My already owned, Seagull S6 Coastline Folk Guitar (review video - http://bit.ly/2DwYEFE), sings with a Cedar top in a restrained but resonant harmony. I was amazed how my songs, both singer-songwriter, and instrumental, took on a life of their own with a fast neck and deep quality of tone. It compromised no quality to be affordable and that reflected my own common-sense budget while seeking superior sound.

When seeking a louder, studio-worthy instrument for projection and volume of strumming, I reached for Seagull’s top-shelf, Artist Series. This flagship model stuns visually and aurally with a mahogany neck, solid rosewood back, and a solid spruce top with adirondack spruce bracing. What does this mean? The guitar sings! It’s bright but balanced and ready for stage or studio performances. Go play one! You’ll agree, I’m sure, within 30-seconds, that this is an elite instrument in terms of sound. Plus the cutaway lets you get anywhere you want on the fretboard, comfortably.

Sustainability: Seagull cares about the overall environmental approach to guitar making. They are building and leading the way with innovations to tread lightly and protect natural resources and practices for their musical road ahead. They avoid exotic international woods and make smart choices with their sourcing.

North-American made: I love a global economy, but at the same time trust my guitar makers here in North America. I had owned Martin and Taylor in the past, and it was my Seagull in my studio that chriped for a partner from Seagull in Canada. I loved the story of a small village with half of the population being luthier. I was charmed by their website and enticed by their Canadian lumber and production facilities.  Seagull was a company that instantly filled my head with ideas and potential. A Canadian company fit with my past three years of the Danny Hauger Travel Podcast - Vancouver (http://bit.ly/2GcrbSx), Toronto (http://bit.ly/2DDDHMu), and In 2018, Ottawa.

Thanks for reading and watching.
I was not paid for this review, and paid for the instrument myself.

"Devoted to You" is an original song written by me, Danny Hauger, originally for the album, "Chasing the Golden Age". I had not heard the song in about a year when I stumbled upon it on Spotify when replying to fan mail from someone who wrote me about it. I realized that my new 12-string guitar impulse would provide a really nice lift to the rhythm and tone of the song, and decided today would be a good day to record it. I hope you enjoy listening to it and share it with a friend.

“Devoted to You” Music and Lyrics by Danny Hauger  Copyright 2017

Key of E Major

Instrumental available on YouTube Playlist “Acoustic Duets” on DannyHauger’s Channel

There’s a season for the words I have to say,

There’s a reason why the world’s about to change.

But I could keep it all away from my mind,

If I could just see you walk by.

Only two of us are in this world,

One of them’s intrigued by this girl.

I can hope you’ll see how I am,

Believing there’s a chance to begin.

I’ve been wandering and waiting for you,

Humbly contemplating to you

Why am I still understated to you?

Hopelessly devoted, devoted to you.

Rarely wanted to seek adventure,

Rarely wanted to hear the truth,

If I had ventured outward,

Maybe you would be the proof.

This instrumental was recorded in between a break for the "Laddering" Album recording sessions as a palette cleanser. It almost was good enough to consider including it in the album, but I decided to cut and spin it off as the first new weekly podcast for 2018. "Middle Value" starts with a modern rock riff in the middle of the guitar, and evolves into a typical acoustic rock song from my studios. Enjoy! It would make a great music bed if you want to use it, get in touch with me!

Its finny to me how my students have clinged to the song, "Careless in My Sleep", or they secretly make fun of me for it. Whatever the motive is, it makes me think about this song of mine quite a lot. Its a song with a lot of personal meaning and expression already, and when I went to find its acoustic unplugged version on my computer, no results came up. I needed to re-explore the song and lay it out without drums. I wanted to voice the depth and reverberence of the song's meaning in a new version so I brought some new strings out to my lap steel guitar and the very first note I recorded was the first note you hear in this new unplugged version. From there, everything was just singing through and it was really enjoyable not just to play, but also to mix. This was the most time I spent mixing a song in a while, and I think it shines through in the mix. Its a free mp3 download of one of my personal favorites, and I hope you will enjoy it! I also recorded a four-track video which you can watch on my YouTube Channel: Danny Hauger. Please download, share, like, and subscribe!!

On November 20th, 17th I had the chance to go and interview my former teacher and mentor Melba Pattillo Beals. Melba was my radio teacher at Dominican University of California, she was also Communications Department chair, and this interview features conversation about history, parenting, and loving yourself and others around you. In a year and a half at San Rafael, I was fortunate enough to gain a wider lens to focus my own perspective. I was taken back mentally to the college classroom above the library where we met twice a week. I hope you enjoy this conversation nearly as much as I did. It was really nice to sit and discuss philosophy and outlook on life with Melba.

Melba inspired me to take a challenging road once and a while, and value myself along the road of life, even when you can't see what's coming around the corner. There were a lot of takeaway quotes from Melba, and I decided to highlight a few of the most motivating quotes with on screen caption.

This interview is a touching part of my past and my future simultaneously. I think we all can gain some insights and perspective from Melba's wisdom. We discuss education, faith, and potential, among many other topics. Not just a conversation about Central High School in Little Rock, we discuss a wide range of topics and I found it both informative and entertaining. To me, Its a cross section of American history and humanity. It was a pleasure to get to spend so much time discussing the uplifting side of the human spirit. Thank you Melba!

This Thanksgiving I led a prayer service at my school. With my new webcam on my desk, it struck me that I might record my thoughts about unity, togetherness, and gratitude with inspiration from the way my Professor at Dominican University, Rabbi Henry Schreibman taught me, to compare, appreciate, and respect traditions of all faiths. In this short prayer service I share opinions from a Muslim blogger in London, a traditional Jewish story of violinist Itzhak Perlman breaking a string on stage, and a prayer from a Christian looking to slow down the prayer before the Thanksgiving meal.

Three perspectives from followers of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity on Gratitude and Thanksgiving to reflect on round your dinner table. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

Enjoyed Hope Sandoval and the Warm intentions Friday night! What a beautiful venue in Berkeley - the UC Theatre. There are a load of great talent, and I love their nonprofit mission to train people for careers in music and the arts! View their upcoming calendar here!

This week I also got humiliated, not really, on Comedy Bang Bang, episode 511. Take a listen. I love that show! Stay tuned for new music this week, and an interview with recording artist Ben Kweller, one of my top 10 favorite songwriters and inspirations!

Unlike most of the "Relaxing Guitars" playlist, this one is led by electric piano. The electric piano rhythm, strings, and electric alternating rhythm and solo give a groove and relaxing instrumental twist on my usual sessions. I hope you enjoy listening to it.
